French Newspaper Says Food Crisis is Imminent

A Global Food Crisis is Emminent - Make Preparations Now

A Global Food Crisis is Imminent

France’s leading newspaper, Le Monde, has interviewed the U.N. Rapporteur for Food Rights, Olivier de Schutter. Here is part of the interview:

                    ———- Begin Excerpt ———-

Le Monde: Has the situation improved since the “hunger riots” of 2008?

Olivier de Schutter: No. All the conditions for a new food crisis within a year or two are assembled. The question is not whether it will take place, but when. The structural causes for the 2008 food crisis – an abrupt increase in prices linked to cyclical factors and accelerated by speculation – remain in place. Only a single spark would be enough to relaunch the increase in prices. We have not learned our lessons from the last crisis.

                    ———- End Excerpt ———-

This is more evidence that a worldwide food crisis is coming. Heed the warnings.

The Absolute Worst Possible Time for a Disaster

The Trinity Atomic Bomb Test, White Sands, July 16, 1945

When are you most vulnerable to a disaster? How about at night, when you are asleep? You’re totally vulnerable. Which is probably why criminals tend to do their dirty work at night.

I’ve often thought the absolute worst time for a major emergency or disaster was in the middle of the night, in the height of winter. As we approach winter here in the U.S., it’s time to take stock of your preparations.

Imagine that in the middle of January, you were to lose power, for any number of reasons. What would you do? Do you have a way to heat your home without electricity. You may have a gas-powered furnace, but does it take electricity to run? Fireplaces and wood stoves would be very welcome during that time.

Survey your preparations and assess your readiness. A major event will likely occur at the most inconvenient time, under the worst possible conditions. So, if you need more water, get it. If you need to buy more emergency survival food, do it. If you need to buy more emergency preparedness supplies, do it.

How to Connect a Generator to Your Home Without Rewiring

GenerLink with Generlock - Connect to your home without rewiring
GenerLink with Generlock – Connect a generator without rewiring

There is a new product called GenerLink which allows you to connect a portable generator to your house without rewiring. It’s pretty slick.

Generlink eliminates the use of extension cords and other connections that can be hazardous to customers and utility personnel. It detects when a generator is operating and automatically disconnects from the utility grid, eliminating dangerous feedback.

I have had a backup generator installed at my house for years. When I looked it up, I went the more difficult route and wired an electrical subpanel that the generator fed. This was coupled with a pure sine wave inverter and a battery bank. It is a very nice setup, but if I was thinking about getting a generator today, and was looking for the easy way out, I would consider the GenerLink.

You know emergency preparedness items like this go perfectly with your long term food storage plans.

You should check it out. Here is a link to the GenerLink website:

Obama Declares Swine Flu to be a National Emergency

The CDC is saying that Swine Flu infections have already peaked, and the pandemic is on its way out. However on Saturday, President Obama declared the Swine Flu to be a national emergency. Why would he have done this?

Emergency Powers enable the President to effectively bypass the Constitution and activate sweeping powers for himself and that of federal authorities. Your rights as an American are no longer recognized under a national emergency. Whether these emergency powers will be used remains to be seen. At least it is useful to be aware of them.
