How Much Food Should I Store for an Emergency?

National Terror Alert Response Center recommends two weeks of food

The question everyone always asks is, “How much food should I store?” Well, let’s look at that.

It is universally agreed that 72 hours is the minimum amount of food and water you should have on hand for each person. What’s funny is that even the branches of government don’t agree on this issue.

The National Terror Alert Response Center recommends this:

“Even though it is unlikely that an emergency would cut off your food supply
for two weeks, you should prepare a supply that will last that long.”

If you have a family of four and you don’t think two weeks of food is enough, then you could choose a larger amount of food.

Be Prepared with Mountain House Foods #10 Cans

“I invest in anything that Bernanke can’t destroy, including gold, canned beans, bottled water and flashlight batteries.” So says David Stockman, former budget director for Ronald Reagan. He’s talking about what Ben Bernanke, the Chairman of the Federal Reserve can’t destroy.

He goes on to say that, “The Democrats and Republicans are in a race to the fiscal bottom to see which one can bury our children and grandchildren deeper in debt.”

Stockman was known for his outspoken behavior during the Reagan administration, and he is just as outspoken today. What do his words mean for you and me? Here’s my translation:

  • Store food.
  • Store water.
  • Store emergency preparedness supplies.
  • Buy gold.

Gold is great, but you can’t eat it. Store food and water for your family first.

What You Really Get When You Have Emergency Food Storage

Get 3 Months of Food for 4 People at Nitro-Pak

Feed a Family of 4 for 3 Months

It is often said that when you store food and water, you have Peace of Mind. That is true, but there is something else.

When any disaster strikes, most people take inventory of themselves. Am I okay? Are my children okay? Is my spouse okay? Once they have established that, they take inventory of what they have, for wherever they are at.

In the hours and days after a disaster, help will be dispatched. You will undoubtedly see the Red Cross, the Salvation Army, and local, state, and perhaps federal relief organizations. If you are in the majority of people in the U.S., you will not have any food or water stored, and you will be totally dependent on help you may receive from one or more of these organizations. However, there’s a problem:

Relief organizations will not be able to help everyone

If you are among very wise, and are in the small minority of people who have stored food and water, you will have something in addition to Peace of Mind:

Emergency Food Storage Gives You Independence

You’ll will not have to rely on external organzations to provide for your family. You won’t have to stand in a food line, and you won’t have to beg. You’ll be able to take care of the ones you love, because you planned ahead for time.

Secure your family’s independence today:   Buy this unit and feed 4 people for 3 months.

Hyperinflation may cause bread to cost $23 per loaf

Hyperinflation is coming, so get ready. Will soaring food prices be the biggest problem for the U.S. in 2011?

In a report released on Friday, 5 November, 2010, the National Inflation Association gives its projections of future U.S. food price increases due to the massive monetary inflation being created by the Federal Reserve’s $600 billion quantitative easing.

NIA’s President Gerard Adams believes food inflation will take over in 2011 as America’s greatest crisis. According to Adams, “making mortgage payments will soon be the last thing on the minds of all Americans. We currently have a currency crisis that could soon turn into hyperinflation and a complete societal collapse.”

The report highlights that despite cotton rising by 54%, corn rising by 29%, soybeans rising by 22%, orange juice rising by 17%, and sugar rising by 51% during the months of September and October, these huge commodity price increases have yet to make their way into America’s grocery stores. But soon, all retailers will have to substantially raise food prices at the same time.

This is why storing food and water for your family is a great idea. You can start right here.
