High Food Costs Affect Developing Nations

High Food Costs Sting Poorer Nations - Store Food While You Have the Chance

High Food Costs Sting Poorer Nations

Poorer nations are feeling the effect of higher food costs. Some families are being forced to give up meat, fruite, and even tomatoes.

Food is costing up to 70% of family income in nations from Pakistan, to Argentina, to Congo. Many governments are blaming dry weather and high fuel costs. In some countries, like India, food is costing up to three times what it did two years ago.

When these problems will hit the U.S. is unknown. So far inflation is still somewhat in check, but an economic crash seems to be more likely with each passing day. That is why you need to store extra food for your family.

Most economists believe the U.S. will face the same crisis as Greece. Store food today while it is available. You will enjoy the peace-of-mind it brings.

The United Arab Emirates is Stockpiling Food

Government Stockpiling Food in UAE

Food Market in the United Arab Emirates

In Dubai, the United Arab Emirates (UAE) government approved a plan to build up three-month stocks of rice, flour and other staples to boost food security following the European travel chaos that disrupted supplies, local daily the National reported.

“In cases of emergencies, states can stop exports to other countries … We can’t put all of our eggs in one basket,” Foreign Minister Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed al-Nahyan was quoted as saying.

The shutdown of much of European airspace last week due to a huge cloud of volcanic ash paralysed air travel and disrupted the supply of food and other goods to the UAE and other Middle East countries.

Editor: They are stocking up. Why aren’t you?

Preparedness doubts? White House,”Nuke victims will have to wait”

Sunday, April 18th, 2010
Preparedness Doubts? White House says,

XX-34 BADGER explosion, fired from a tower on April 18, 1953 at the
Nevada Test Site.

If you still have doubts about whether you should obtain emergency preparedness supplies, this will change your mind.

The White House has warned that state and local governments should not expect “a significant federal response at the scene of a terrorist nuclear attack for up to 72 hours after the blast”, reports Steve Sternberg of USA Today.

The article goes on to say that, “the chaos that would inevitably follow such a blast would make it difficult for the federal government to react quickly. Emergency response is principally a local function.”

If you are still sitting at home thinking the government will take care of you in a disaster, you now know that you’ll be on your own for at least 72 hours. But let’s be realistic. At the 72 hour mark, the federal government is not going to be able to magically address everyone’s needs. So, what do you do?

I think you need to have 10 to 14 days of food stored for every person in your family. Now, I don’t know if that sounds like too much to you or not. But just look at what happened during after Hurricane Katrina. At 72 hours (3 days into it), everyone wasn’t taken care of. So, you really need to have 10 to 14 days of food for each member of your family.

Haven’t you wondered why the U.S. government has been talking so much lately about a potential terrorist nuclear attack? Draw your own conclusions from that. Please take action now and secure what you need to care for your family in a disaster.

British airspace lockdown sparks food supply concern

The Grocery Store Shelves Are Going Empty in Britain

The Grocery Store Shelves Are Going Empty in Britain

The Icelandic volcano erruption is causing more problems in Europe besides air travel. British supermarkets could start running short on goods such as fruit and vegetables if the island’s airspace remains closed into next week.

“Some items, could soon be in reduced supply if the volcanic ash cloud remains over Britain”, warns Christopher Snelling, head of global supply chain policy for the Freight Transport Association. “There are no shortages yet, but we may start to see certain ranges affected if this carries on.”

“The longer that UK airspace is closed, the greater the damage to the nation’s food supply.”

Scary Money Figures of Everyday America

Thursday, March 11th, 2010
35 Million Americans are on Food Stamps

35 Million Americans are on Food Stamps

You may be shocked to know that:

  • There are 35 Million Americans are on Food Stamps. That’s 12 Percent of the U.S. Population. The highest rate since records started being kept in 1969. Link here
  • There are 18.6 Million Empty Houses in the U.S. Link here.
  • There are 39 million Americans who are no longer working or looking for work.

All indications are that the situation is going to get worse. The U.S. is not in a recovery, it’s in a Double-Dip Recession, whatever that is.

Perhaps we’ll get lucky and it will be three dips. One can always hope.
