Let’s Hope Fake Rice Doesn’t Make Into US Food Supply
Just when you thought things couldn’t be stranger, China’s Global Times reports that many of the poor are being fed fake rice.
The fake “rice” is made by mixing potatoes, sweet potatoes and plastic. The potatoes are first formed into the shape of rice grains, then industrial-grade synthetic resins are added to the mix. The fake rice is reported to only be sold in the Chinese town of Taiyuan, in Shaanxi province.
Not knowing whether to laugh or cry, I’ll mention that a Chinese Restaurant Association official had this to say:
“Eating three bowls of this fake rice would be like eating one plastic bag.”
Oh. Well then, that makes it okay.
What does fake rice have to do with you and me?
A couple of years ago, it was found that Chinese factories were putting Melamine in baby formula, pet foods, and other food stuffs destined for the U.S. Many infants, pets, and adults were injured. Some even died.
Of course, this fake rice would “never” make it into the U.S. food supply. Would it? Don’t take chances with your family’s food supply. Emergency food from Mountain House Food is made in the USA.
Only buy food for your family if you know it is safe.
