The CDC is saying that Swine Flu infections have already peaked, and the pandemic is on its way out. However on Saturday, President Obama declared the Swine Flu to be a national emergency. Why would he have done this?
Emergency Powers enable the President to effectively bypass the Constitution and activate sweeping powers for himself and that of federal authorities. Your rights as an American are no longer recognized under a national emergency. Whether these emergency powers will be used remains to be seen. At least it is useful to be aware of them.
