Mormons Packing Hard Red Winter Wheat for Long Term Food Storage

I came across an interesting article while surfing the net. It is not a new article, just new to me.

The article was written by Tim Townsend of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, and was published in the Daily Herald, which is a Utah Valley newspaper. The title of the article is, “Spike in orders at LDS warehouses reflects growing anxiety”, and it was written on January 25, 2009.

The article discusses how orders at the church’s 109 Bishop’s Storehouses has in some cases doubled. The Bishop’s Storehouses are food cannery and distribution centers that serve two purposes. They allow the church to help feed members who are struggling financially, and it allows all church members to can dry goods for long-term storage in their homes in case of disaster.
